If anyone is at a loose end and would like to help out, there's a couple of things that you can do.

1. Just upload some more manga that we don't have yet.

2. Try to finish off a series that is missing files. Bringing ongoing series up-to-date would be fantastic.

3. Update the spreadsheet with more information. It's located here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NJrGFAJWoJVnFMI9cJDJLm0O1A5Cv6ukB0FTo7-kaV8/edit?pli=1#gid=0

To upload you can download FileZilla and connect to the host ftp.madokami.com
There's no username or password needed.

Looks like they skipped over looking for peripheral signs of Thyroid dysfunction. Poor show.

Although was not aware there was a Berry's sign.

But back to the topic, is there any kind of format you need to have when uploading shit to these? Because I usually unpack my archives, label the volumes as [title] - [volume#] - [volume title (if I know it)] and chapters as [chapter#] - [chapter title]. If I rar'd what I have that isn't up and upload it in that format would people be pissed off.

Files are more important than naming schemes.

As long as it's clear, no one will care.
If you want to put in the extra effort, use https://gist.github.com/Daiz-/bb8424cfedd0f05b7386
>>
>>110061877
That's probably fine, but if it's a tank scan you should include volume information.
>>
>>110061877
Volume or (mag) is mandatory so you're actually not using it right.

Use whatever you want, it's not like it's important if it's consistent. I recommend to organize your files beforehand, though.

>>110062102
The scanlators don't always list the vol, I don't see why it should be mandatory when all the chapters are numbered anyways. Mangaupdates shows the number of volumes but not the chapters which belong to them (would have been useful though).

I think we should make a pastebin.
>>
>>110063294
>The scanlators don't always list the vol, I don't see why it should be mandatory
Because Daiz-sama said so.

It's stupid idea anyway, after volume is done, most people drop chapter numbers altogether and list only volume when archiving. You have ToC for the rest.
>>
>>110063974
The point of (mag)/(v00) in the filename is that it should tell you immediately whether it's a magazine scan or a tank scan.

>>
>>110064244
>Which you will know as soon as you open the archive.
Not necessarily. The archive might have tank covers but have everything else from magazine scans.
>>
>>110064244
It's as easy as reading it while checking your filename. If everything is there, copy, paste, and change the numbers. Then, do it again for any new manga until you're so familiar with it that you don't need it anymore.
>>
>>110064400
Is there really any release like that? And does it even matter? The quality of pages will either be worse (you will know it's mag) or same (it doesn't matter).

>>110064468
>If everything is there, copy, paste, and change the numbers.
The problem comes from irregularities. More that one extra? Extra not on the end? Unnumbered chapters? More than x volumes, more than x chapters? Each of it has a rule, do you know about them?

Volumes 1-25 are from the mediafire anon and in very good quality, the rest is by a bunch of other groups and the last few volumes are in ridiculous resolution and uncleaned, so the filesize gets up to about 500MB per volume

Rips the images with a userscript. Descrambles the image with something I hacked together in C. The C is probably overkill since it descrambles the image without losing any quality. I could probably hack together something to just save the png which is like 2 or 3 times bigger.

Interesting, someone wrote something in Ruby that uses ImageMagick? I see. It looks like it uses default recompression. I'd rather just use png than lose quality for no reason like that.

>>
>>110094197
>I want to set something similar for anime.
Not him, and I'm no expert, but I can tell you a few things. First, anime gets dmca'd much more often than manga. Second, anime is heavier than anime. A lot more. And a page like that would get a lot of downloads. The badnwidth needed for something like that would be expensive as fuck (unless you made it as something for personal use, with only you and a few friends to use). In other words, it's not a good idea.

Shouldn't matter though, if you have to de-scramble them, you're going to either have to use PNG, or loose more quality with recompressing with JPG.
>>
>>110094647
Nope. That is what >>110094091 is for. Entirely the original image. Lossless descramble.
>>
>>110094674
To elaborate: Comic Walker images appeared to be designed specifically to losslessly scramble them in the first place with their MCU on the right boundaries. It's not really surprising that no one believed me when I originally found out this detail. No one even uses the feature.

You can't get a server shipped to your house, anon. You rent it on site, otherwise you wouldn't have that bandwidth, and you pay each month. In this case, that server has 4Ts of space, and 250mbps of bandwidth (that must be shared among all the users connected to it). You can search various guides on how to build webpages and ftps on google, and most of them would include what to do if you have a server of your own.

Dr. Anons scans are fine for 1-27, but the rest are done by random people as mentioned in the thread.

Who uploads Abandon the Old but not Pushman and Goodbye?
>>
I think someone answered this in another thread but i don't remember what was the answer.
Using Daiz's naming scheme what format should i use for a volume that contains releases by 2 different groups?
[Group1][Group2]?
>>
>>110095279
That's not how you use inb4
>>
>>110095625
You could use [Various] or [Group1 & Group2].

>>110064046
There's also sorting considerations involved. I'd prefer if (mag) wasn't a necessity, but sadly it is in order to ensure proper sorting.
>>
>>110095625
[Group1 / Group2] would be my preference
>>
>>110095736
For the time being, I would recommend listing both group names. [Various] is more workable after there are rules defined for individual page filenames. I added a "to be done" section about that to the document.

There's also a new (mix) definition for archives that mix magazine and tankoubon pages, eg. a volume repack of magazine scans with cover / extra scans included from a tank.
>>
>>110095925
There's also something I'd like to ask your opinions on - some people were proposing adding a separate definition for web sourced material, ie. (web) or (net) or such. Do you think this would be a good idea, or should it just be all grouped together under (mag)?
>>
Do I need to pack jpg into zip/rar?

>>
>>110095961
Zip packages by volumes. Lone images are pain.
>>
>>110096023
And how do I know what chapter goes into what volume?
I have them as chapters.
>>
>>110096248
In that case just zip them up as single chapters.
>>
>>110096248
Look for volume covers, duh.
>>
>>110096248
Try looking at wikipedia, ToC or somewhere. If you can't find it, pack it as chapters.

What series is that? Is it complete?
>>
>>110054997
Well, it kinda is.
>>
By the way, I wouldn't recommend packing multiple volumes into a single archive like in the OP. Just keep things to one volume per archive.
>>
>>110095953
I was the one mentioning it, and I did because I thought writing mag in a webrip was kinda misleading. I don't know how this affects sorting, though.
>>
>>110096388
Gonna have to word this.
>>
>>110095159
see
>>110090844
and no, I won't upload volumes separately
>>
>>110096469
Well, if you had three versions of the same thing, the options would sort like this:

>Manga - c001 (mag)
>Manga - c001 (net)
>Manga - c001 (v01)

Or:

>Manga - c001 (mag)
>Manga - c001 (v01)
>Manga - c001 (web)

Which one you prefer comes pretty much down to pure opinion - other than that there would be no issues whatsoever with it, since both "net" and web sort before "x" (which is the important part when it comes to overall sorting).

Was there ever a solution for what to do when a volume begins with a decimal chapter number? For example Ai-Ren's volume 4 ends with chapter 35 and volume 5 begins with chapter 35.5.
>>
>>110096388
Also, if you look at the examples in the manga naming scheme, the "Unnumbered Initial Chapters" actually originates from Berserk chapter numbers, so technically the archive range should be 001-c315, not c000-c315.
>>
Daiz pls go

>>110096672
Just pack it as volume and label it as such. Don't make things any more retarded that they already are.
>>
>>110096672
Sadly, I don't think there is really any other solution than to just attach "front" specials like that to the previous chapter number, so you'd have something like this:

>Manga - c035 (v04)
>Manga - c035 x1 (v05)
>Manga - c036 (v05)

And so on.

Whoever wrote that script for the exhen frontend deserves a lot of praise. It's the snappiest manga-related service I've ever used.

The files came from the bakabt torrent. Sure the pngs have been optimized and they have been repacked.

>>110098188
That doesnt mean that it literally IS the bbt torrent you have to realize this?!
Same files = same files no matter the source.
A movie from DDL, XDCC or Torrent who is the exact same file is the same file no matter where you get it from, get it?
When your zip is identical to bbt torrent, you can say its the bbt torrent!

Inside the appropriate folder (ongoing, completed, raw, or whatever), it would be the best if you made a folder for the series, and then dumped your files there. It should take you less than 5 seconds, and would help keeping everything organized.
Also, someone said not to use the Short Manga one.
>>
>>110098370
No, if you're gonna upload something that's not there then you need to create the folder.
>>
>>110097819
But I remember perfectly that someone told you to not upload everything as a single compressed folder.

This is so silly.

1) google 'kickthekitty berserk', click first link.
2) ctrl +f write 'vol 28-30' and click enter.

You can clearly see that kickthekitty saying he is uploading a MIRROR of the bakabt torrent...

v26-35 in your torrent are/where part of the bakabt torrent. Sure, some of the files where released at the same time at kickthekittys site, because he uploaded the scans used.

But your specific example v29 originated from Bakabt and where only posted as a mirror at kickthekitty after he told people to download the bakabt torrent. The same is true for a lot of other volumes in your zip.

The main exception to this is v01-25, which where done by dr anon. He posted them at mediafire first. (on a sidenote he used files from the bakabt torrent to create those releases and gave bakabt user the blessing to include them in the torrent).

Also, the images in your zip all look the same as the old bakabt torrent, nothing removed, nothing changed. except repack and optimized pngs.

The best things to upload are those on the Do Not Upload lists of the former Mangatraders site. Those will be the titles that other people have the least of. Besides, if the manga title is already at BakaBT, the bandwidth of the FTP site is best saved for use with DNU type titles. Just download from BakaBT instead.

One Piece manga
Detective Conan manga
Spice & Wolf light novels

Holy shit dude...
These threads have been going for a couple of days now. If 20 anons would upload their manga folders on 50gb we would have 50% of the space used already.
And trust me, there have been more than 20 anons here over these couple of days.
You get it?
Good.
Just look at the fucking sadpanda folder.
How big do you think that one is? 20MB?
>>
>>110100738
Did you go to a school specifically structured to make people the best retards there is?
>>
>>110100738
If 20 anons uploaded their 50gb folders, we would have a lot of duplicates, triplicates, and even pentaplicates.
And about the sadpanda folder, yeah, I agree, but it doesn't help that I'm against backing up sadpanda here, specially when we don't have a manga solution ready yet. Sadpanda is a great place, and even though I don't think it's a good idea to have all your eggs in the same basket, we don't have any basket for the manga eggs.

>You're hopeless.

>>
>>110100851
It's not like most of us are blindly uploading titles, there's a request folder and you can see what's already been uploaded in the folders.
>>
>>110101024
>>110100851
>>110100738

>>
>>110096388
Shut the fuck up Daiz.
>>
>>110101083
Yes, and therefore, once the first anon uploads his 50GB folder, the next one would have to upload only half of it, since everything else is already there, and the third, only 12.5, and so on, meaning five anons with a 50GB folder each would not even reach 100GB with my estimate (that is obviously baseless, but you get the idea).
