New thread. How many people are actually using the FTP?
download filezilla and set that as the path
If you've got mangatraders stuff, You should rename them to at least get rid of the numbers.
There was a program to do that but I haven't got the link right now
At the moment, I'm trying to figure out what series are on Batoto that aren't in the MangaTraders archive.
It's a bit annoying because of the large amount of Manga-Updates data (which I'm using as a sort of 'reference').
On a side note, I wish there was an archive for this board that wasn't Foolz, which I refuse to use except when I absolutely have to. I really miss easymodo, foolz is constantly slow and laggy and it took me ages to find a post I made a couple days ago.
Is there a way to upload a link?
Like uploading a link that redirects you to mangaupdates page of the manta you're viewing?
This way we solve the meets metadata issue and give mangaupdates more traffic.
So am I forced now to use online reader? Because I want to read Akame ga Kill but there isn't a site that has more than 10 chapters of it. It's like every 10 chapters someone stops translating it and someone else picks it up. And all of scanlators have annoying wordpress sites with 2 posts per page.
What did i tell you? Stop the bullying.
Sometimes sarcasm is hard to understand, and it's even harder for retarded people.
well that's not nice man, I google it but don't understand shit, I'm p much retarded with tech stuff
I've spoonfed a lot today, batoto crawler is a python script.
Fmd stand for free manga downloader it also rip images from online readers.
Chamber them up and try them, I suggest trying fmd first.
You're right, seems very little of his stuff is scanned. I seem to only have Shurayukihime, sorry. I can scrape Share and see if there's more.
Are you wanting to scanlate it or something? I'm interested in his work.
So why do you guys care so much about MangaTraders all of a sudden? I've been here quite a while, and before it going down I almost never saw it being mentioned, and the people I've talked to outside of 4chan said they've never heard of it.
>$15 used excluding shipping
Probably not going to touch it, but if someone closer to the region wants to scan it, that'd be cool. Or if you're poor/patient enough, you could get a copy from the library and transcribe it.
I don't think there are.
I'm italian, never studied french in my whole life.
Remember it should be scanned too, if it's used you won't be certain there aren't flaws in some pages. Still better than nothing but if you have to do it, then better do it the best way.
Since I'm on android tablet and got a few volumes.
I'm looking on a way to connect to the ftp server.
Filezilla didn't work form me so did es explorer the only thing that's working is x-plorer .
Am I the only one who's having the same problem?
I've collected lots of scattered things wandering around blogs and such. Lots of older series. Actually found some Takao Saito manga recently that was on Jmanga. Apparently it was on nyaa for a year and no one seemed to know. No seeds, but I managed to scrape an out of sorts online reader.
who the hell do you think I am
sure, why have convenient things, right?
Japan Sinks which just got published on CR anyways. And Devil King. I also ripped all the others from CR, and HorribleScans is nowhere in sight. The DDL for Hotel Detective should be in the archive somewhere.
>It might as well be. Applications are often ignored or put on the back burner for months at a time.
I got mine resolved in less than a day. Maybe that changed, but it still doesn't change that Nyaa is worthless when older releases are concerned.
I like AB's layout better anyway.
I guess someone should grind their way into Legend and start inviting people to seed MT archives, in case Woxxy's site ends up as vaporware.
If you mean as one giant batch torrent, then they've already said no. They would have to be respective individual torrents. They host licensed shit, right? That's a plus. Finding those old Viz scans is a hassle sometimes.
It's just a tracker, why not? It's not like you even have to put it on single tracker.
As long as you have a seed box to keep it alive and make it organized enough, torrents would be best place to keep the archive.
That's a sure way how to kill a torrent. You don't have to download it all and you don't have to run thousands of torrents to keep them seeded.
>don't you dare try this shit again
And now I see that AB keep torrents with unarchived manga. What the fuck, why would anyone do that. This is completely retarded, even more retarded that bakabt's policy of keeping original filenames, no matter how badly it fucks up the sorting.
>uploading to AB
The fact that people have to ask for invites in this thread is proof enough as to why that might be a bad idea.
Just post on Nyaa with a proper title and seed. Lower barrier of entry, and it'll only go unseeded as long as you stop seeding it. Not like AB doesn't have dead torrents.
No, I'm talking about diffirent thing.Torrents there have manga chapters/volumes unzipped instead of just single .zip file for chapter/volume. Sometimes they have a mix. Yotsuba, for example, have scanlation zipped and ADV Manga's scans as a folder with 900+ images. How the fuck I am supposed to seed this shit.
You can have both. I don't know why AB does it but yeah, you can upload an archived copy and an unarchived copy for a single series. So then there are faggots who basically earn uploads simply by uploading an unarchived version that was from the originally archived upload.
Yeah, even on AB manga scanlation is a mess.
Do you really want multitudes of files that have no relation to content with half-guessed numbering and no proper packaging, just to make it sort?
Hell, if you cared, you could probably run all the files through pngcrush or something and save some decent number of GBs. And organize the archive at the same time for the benefit of everybody.
>multitudes of files that have no relation to content
>with half-guessed numbering
The great thing about Daiz's naming scheme is that it doesn't require any guessing to sort properly.
>Do you really want multitudes of files that have no relation to content with half-guessed numbering and no proper packaging, just to make it sort?
Just what the fuck are you smoking?
I'm making a folder named "!Oneshots" in the manga directory , the exclamation mark so it can show first.
And if the admin could afford a bit of his/her time to forgive my mistake and delete the "oneshot" folder in the root directory, I'll be really grateful.
For fucks sake.
Just upload it to this
And on unrelated note, more of this?
I'd bet most of the PNG's aren't even grayscale or indexed. pngcrush won't fix that either. I've ended up just using pngnq to convert to 32 indexed colors and it doesn't really compress further with png compression tools.
>The admin moved the oneshot folder from the root to the manga directory and added the !.
I did not.
I don't give a shit how it's organised for now, the main concern is getting data up there.
Seirei Tsukai no Kenbu upload complete.
Currently uploading Yotsubato Raw (until v10).
Will upload Mujaki no Rakuen, apparently it was too lewd for the christian online manga reader.
Sorry,I was fapping while posting.
I meant what you do to read the thrweads only allow you to read text and not pics in the thread after it 404'd.
So are you using an archiver script?
It isn't sustainable running mangatraders or similar websites, torrents are the only way forward, and people need to stop uploading fucking site rips.
Daiz please put those BD donations you collect from retards to good use and buy us a server so we can save manga.
Just add a space or something for the groups. For the omake just name it like normal it it's in the beginning or in the end like so
cYYYx1-YYY - omake at the begining
cYYY-YYYx1 - omake at the end.
>Files that renamed to: Brave 10 S v02 c10.zip
> 588590-Brave 10 S_v03_c11_.zip
> 588590-Brave 10 S_v02_c10_Devil Castle Scans.zip
Why is the MangaTraders database so inexplicably shitty?
Why did they ever allow special characters in filenames?
I'm a retard. Can someone give me instructions in how to take a folder and get rid of all the number stuff right before the title name?
the best I can do it rename them to the display name, somewhat nicely formatted, given in the MT database (because I'm not going to even try to algorithmically rename 50k files with no rhyme or rhythm to their naming to fit Daiz's arcane scheme); evidently the database says that both of those files correspond to the same thing
>chapter = num3 | cnum | dnum
> | num3, "-", num3 | num3, "-", cnum | num3, "-", dnum
> | cnum, "-", num3 | cnum, "-", dnum
> | dnum, "-", num4 ;
I don't see anything about special being allowed inside of chapter numbering, mate.
I suppose it's pretty easy although ultimately I don't see the point, because you won't be able to say whether it's a magazine scan or a volume scan (because of MT's chapter repacks), which you have to specify in Daiz's naming scheme, and we would be forced to guess, which is a bad idea. You'd have to get the scanlator name from the original filename as well, and also deal with stuff like omakes and specials being mentioned.
Here is the info: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5cxssk96cf07z4w/fdata_proc_v3.txt
No, really, FUCK the niggers who leaked the mangatraders DB. I HOPE YOU DIE SLOWLY.
Why do I have to receive shit like this in my mail. Fuck you.
There are plenty of manga with same or similar name. Having author as a part of the name should be mandatory to avoid issues and it certainly serves more purpose that to guess how to write chapter and group labels.
you can thank one of Diaz's shitty little cronies for that.
He assassinated MT and now he wants to kill TT to eliminate the competition, and then his "alternatives" that he so bravely rescued will become paysites like CrunchyRoll, founded on theft and piracy.
Diaz is aiming for complete cartel domination.
A-all that finished manga!
From what I know the issue isn't big enough to validate the change in whole naming scheme. Just use [Extra information] in such cases.
If you make the filenames too long they won't fit the screen.
What? No it isn't. What if I want to pick out a particular author among thousands of oneshots? Do you expect me to read off MangaUpdates (which might not even be up to date) and ctrl+f the folder?
If you do that, you'll break the ordering of series.
It doesn't matter, the scheme should be redone anyway. Start with scheme for organization of releases, then for pages and after that start thinking about whole series. You'll then notice that this scheme is unnecessary long for completed series, which you even pointed as a problem.
The difference is, AB encourages you to keep seeding torrents. There's no reason to seed on nyaa. I'm pretty sure no one reseeds nyaa stuff after moving files to different folder.
Why keep it on AB though? This ftp was meant to be for /a/ as a collective, not to lock out those without an AB account.
Keep it public
Keep it on TT, because fuck Nyaa and fuck Daiz.
Whoa, get with the times here. It's the future, and soon we'll just be naming our files by their sha512sum. Or, rather, their sha128sum, because 512 takes up too much space.
What, you want to know information about what you're reading? Fuck you, you should have memorized it already.
>If you do that, you'll break the ordering of series.
What? Why? It's the last part of a filename, it won't break anything.
Learn how to use search function. It's in every single folder.
Putting author's name in front is beyond retarded.
>Newfags arguing over the naming scheme.
>Newfags complaining about free things
Fuck off if you are not going to help.
At least you guys didn't break the document.
How should I go on to uploading Junji Ito? Do I make a folder for him and his short stories? I was thinking f leaving a whole folder for Uzumaki, Gyo, Hellstar Remina, The Junji Ito Horror Comic Collection (sans Tomie), Tomie and then Yami no Koe
Upload them how they were released, so if they were all volumes in one series then it would go in one folder. Separate stories go in their own folders if they are in their own or a different series.
I don't read much Ito sorry.
So like pic related but sans the rars folder.
Captcha: Collects ragegih
Is the admin here? Please make the amount of uploaders bigger by 5 people if possible
And to the anon who uploaded Jitsu wa Watashi wa yesterday, you forgot the parenthesis for the "I am". Right now it reads "Jitsu wa Watashi wa I am"
>Why keep it on AB though?
Where did I say you aren't allowed to use different sites? AB is very good for our goal but shouldn't be the only site. I replied to anon who was criticizing AB - I think it's much better than nyaa. Having stuff in more places is obviously the best.
>for a year.
You see, on AB people have a good reason to seed as long as they are even somewhat interested in what the site offers. There are >200 torrents I seeded on AB for more than year (came there in 2013) and have no intention of stopping, ever.
On nyaa I keep low seeded torrents but don't reseed after moving files to different location.
I have similar issue with hachimitsu scans.
Many short stories of the magazine.
>The Junji Ito Horror Comic Collection
That's bad idea anon, maybe include HTML file for the other stuff.
>Unless you want to have all the chapters from all the manga you own in one folder.
It's a scheme that's supposed to work no matter what. It could at least do that properly, don't you think?
Why would you care about scenario which could only be applicable to someone with a dozen downloaded series? Such person is extremely unlikely to have two manga with the same name.
If you have few hundred of downloaded manga it's tens of thousands of chapters. No way in hell anyone sane keeps that in one folder. You're free to be unsatisfied that common sense is my last argument.
I just disagree in uploading the Ito stuff under the single author, and reducing clutter in terms of lots of files shouldn't be the priority, but putting the same stuff in the same place - series in their own folders with no author folder
I keep my backups in multiple archives separated by series. Not including author name in front makes it pain in the ass to work with.
As for a common sense, go visit a library, maybe you'll notice how were books organized for quite a few millennia.
The obscure FTP only posted here, no one cares.
A website with links, no. You'll need to hide the stuff that can be DMCA'd.
Also when's the full archive / replacement coming anyhow
I can't wait till we can have actual Manga share threads though.
Learn what a circlejerk means
It's not rude, it's an explanation for the people who seem to think this is suddenly a replacement for MT when it's just a few anons uploading their manga collection.
So that people don't keep popping in to ask, "so where's the eff-tee-pee mangatrader replacement i heard about from reddit :( i need my manga"
Is it going to be archive or DLL site? Because if it will have mostly completed series, it might be worth to create db file with all metadata, instead of trying to fit that into a filename like retards.
I can see people putting all the Junji Ito stuff into one folder but on the other hand I'm pretty sure most would prefer to keep Urasawa's titles separate.
If we have to choose, I think titles should take priority over authors. Ideally we should have folders for all the mangaka (perhaps in "Authors" folder) AND folders for each series. Including Uzumaki, Gyo and so on.
Your average page of Japanese text has a lot of Hiragana, still a lot of kanji and maybe three words of Katakana, at most. Even more annoying when you just learn vocabulary, more than enough Hiragana practice, every new word has some Hiragana, but only every 50 words at most you’ll see Katakana, and even then it isn’t really practice since the words themselves are so fucking easy, you just have to decipher the Kana.
Yes, I’m lazy, but the “I learned 500 Kanji in a few months” type lazy. (Granted, I do know some Chinese, that makes it easier, still)
Safe, at least more safe than on MangaTrader.
This shit is in the same ISP host as the madokami FTP server.
I really like the naming format on sadpanda. [Group(Author)] Title [lang] [scanlator]
That doesn't work for manga, because title is much more important with the majority of manga having unique names.
Also Mangaka having similar names may also trip you up more than similar manga names
Well, works if you have free time. 30 per day is pretty fucking normal when you take a language course, at least that’s what we did when I was in China. Doesn’t really work all that well when you have to go to that place called work.
It’s a different story if you already know Chinese though, then it’s really fucking useful to actually “learn Kanji”. Or rather, that’s what you already did when you learned Chinese and now you’ve just gotta use that knowledge on Japanese.
>Yes, it’s embarrassing if you’re fluent in a language but can’t write it by hand. This is an issue even for Japanese people.
Holy shit yes. Once had a Chinese Chinese teacher almost die from embarrassment because he couldn’t for the love of god remember a word without using his phone. Hilarious.
I don't know. But a public manga reader site has much more potential for being taken down, because it has more appeal and every idiot can use it. And I don't see manga reader sites being taken down.
>best girl pick
It's like you've got the best taste of all /a/ together.
Holy shit, that must have sucked balls, anon. But from what I've read in threads on here 150 kbps is a pretty average speed for MT. I never really spent that much time there, I joined 3 weeks before it got hacked and shut down. ;-;
Even when downloading from MT's servers by myself, directly, with no server throttling me, I was maxing out at 6MB/s on a single machine. Had to use two computers at once to get at most 8MB/s
I never got into triple digits on MT's final days, but I think that had something to do with everyone downloading all they could before it closed, every server said heavy in those last days.
I just got 9.1 MB/s from Madokami over three files. The volumes are too small to measure properly. First volume of Basilisk got downloaded before I managed to see the speed, others were 2.7-4.1.
I'm getting that 1.2 GB Berserk now, it started at 3.0, didn't want to go beyond 3.3 for some time but now it's ~5.5 MB/s.
Great speeds overall.
100/10 Internet here.
yeah, thought so, I regret having to tell you that it's incomplete since my breaker went off while I was uploading it. I'm now attempting the impossible for the third time, wish me luck
you can see the full file's size at >>109975099
No, because circle/author is more important than title in case of doujins. Arguably Comiket number too. No one remembers all the titles of 1000 doujins they fapped to. They remember the artstyle/story type though (circle) or series/when they found it (here the comiket number might help)
Altered naming scheme, sure.
I think a different one would be needed, alot of people search them trough the artist/group name.
I'm supposed to be downloading at 1.3MB/s, apparently i broke their contract for "Using it alot" so they changed it from 10Mb/s to 3Mb/s.
And the Contract is almost over so, i dont care.
Done uploading Rotte no Omocha.
I was uploading at 70KB/s, but i only uploaded 200MB~
They think anime is for kids.
Shounen anime like naruto, bleach, one peice are for teenage boys.
That's about it.
Most anime we get are dubbed into Arabic and censored for the double innuendo jokes, bath and kissing scenes are cut.
Recently women in anime that are wearing sleeveless shirts or short skirts are digitally censored.
Oh and traps are girls no exception.
Not much to derail.
Existing issues are:
1. Duplicate and/or unclassified files in the Manga folder. We need to either delete those or move them to the right subfolder.
2. Spreadsheet needs to be updated
3. Need to bring ongoing series up to date and check that the "completed" manga have 100% of the files.
It wasn't this bad with the american soldiers around, note the militia and the ISIS are killing at their leisure.
Thanks anon, I'll try but in my line of work it hard.
