What shows have the best character designs in 2014 so far, /a/?
Mahou Shoujo Taisen.
B-but what about Gin no Saji?
As for your question: Ping Pong for obvious reasons, along with Bokura wa Minna Kawaiisou which had extremely good dynamic between the characters. Isshuukan friends had pretty good but they basically never evolved.
How they interact and their relationships are merely consequences of their designs. Inversely, it is also mostly how we extrapolate actual character traits, as long as they are consistent in how they act according to different scenarios. Unless of course we are solely talking about looks, which would just be silly.
I'm genuinely interested in this topic so please respond. I also have to note that it's currently 5 am so I might just be tired.
I hate that the correct answer took 6 posts, and the majority of /a/ doesn't even agree with it.
It doesn't bother me that people have bad taste. I know that. I expect that. What bothers me is that good taste is right in front of them, but they just don't learn. I think they actively refuse to learn.
We're not talking about their personality and interactions, when people say character design they mean the aesthetics, why do you think that's what everybody else has been talking about?
He meant character design in the sense of how they look, their color schemes, the accessories, personality typing, what have you. Your talking about writing. We're talking about how cute the girls looked.
>How they interact and their relationships are merely consequences of their designs.
Pretty sure believing this is a form of autism.
How do you survive in the world? Are your interactions with people consequences of your fashion?
Considering I really don't care much for the direction modern character design has taken, I'm going to say Matsutaro and Ping Pong. Matsutaro's characters have a nice, classic look, while Ping Pong's character designs are unique and memorable.
Most other series just look generic in comparison.
They are cute and pretty but Mahou Shoujo Taisen is has more interesting designs
Personally, I don't like these. There's too much going on and I get some CLAMP/ZUN vibes where the designer just wanted to slap on all kinds of things on characters without thinking does this really suit this character's personality and style. They look fancy but they don't make the characters stand out from each other at all and they are not memorable.
It's not exactly 2014 show but I really like Yowamushi Pedal designs. Simple and they all look unique and fit their personalities.
Yes. Naruko is by far my favorite.
Well, the designs were chosen through a Pixiv contest. Each of the girls are supposed to represent the prefecture that they belong to.
Going by not the costumes, but how neat the artstyle is, I'd pick Mikakunin
