Chapter 445 came out February 19, 2007, almost ten years ago. We're up to chapter 855. Oda is averaging 41 chapters a year. He is 42 years old.
Seems the good money is One Piece ending abruptly. Do you guys think Oda will just end One Piece out of the blue like a common Kubo or will illness/retirement/death prevent him from even doing that?

Seems to me like it's just 2013, 2014, and 2015 he had poor chapter numbers, at under 40, that's been throwing him off. He's back up over 40 now.
It's fair to say he'll likely be up to 42 by next year, and One Piece honestly is only likely to last 5 more years (assuming oda doesn't finish it on issue 1000)
I mean, what else IS there? We're about to have our first yonkou fight, and it's pretty obvious that Doflamingo was the final Shichibukai fight. Hell, Jinbei is practically part of the crew.
At this point, it's pretty likely that Kaidoh will be the next Yonkou, unless he becomes a jobber to establish how strong Blackbeard's become.
Then who is left for them to fight? They're not going to fight the revolutionaries, in fact it's pretty obvious they'll become allies at some point. So just the government and Blackbeard.
How long will it take to write those stories? I'd say 8 max, but 5 is a more likely scenario.
You can't really expect Oda to die under the age of 50

Seriously though, what caused Japanese mainstream art to change so much? I don't want to get into the politics of it all, but this is a pretty drastic change in an entire culture's pop culture.
